Miss Addilynn Burton is getting to experience FCCLA! We are SO proud of her Fourth-Place achievement in the Dip Skill Event Challenge. FCCLA traveled to Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City. There were 400 kids there. Addy went to breakout sessions and networked with its other schools and peers. Way to go, Addy!

🩸 WOW, Diagonal… THANK YOU! 🩸
Our blood drive yesterday was an incredible success, and it’s all because of YOU, our amazing community!
Here’s what your generosity accomplished:
✨ 29 registered donors
🌟 7 first-time donors (this makes my heart so happy!)
💪 28 units successfully donated
❤️ 34 total units collected
🩺 Up to 102 lives saved or sustained because of YOUR donations!
Whether you donated, encouraged someone else to give, shared the post, or helped spread the word, you played a part in this lifesaving impact.
A special thank you to our students who helped promote and support this event. Watching our youth step up for a cause bigger than themselves is something truly special.
Thank you for showing up for others. 💛

Diagonal Large Group
State Speech
Diagonal High School took an improvisational acting group to the State Speech Contest
in Waukee on February 8th and brought home an overall Division 2 rating, which is considered very good.
Performers were Junior Lydia Hoffman; Sophomores Ashlynn Allee and Kylie Hubbard;
and Freshmen Cadance Shiflett and Jaylynn Doolittle.
Coach Pam Hoffman says, “The group draws 3 situations and then they have 2 minutes to
decide which situation to use and plan their strategy. Then they have up to 5 minutes to perform it. Our team performed Getting Lost in a Magical Forest. These kids are not afraid to go from any sporting event to a live performance in the blink of an eye!”

District Large Group Contest
Diagonal took 2 Improvisational Acting teams to the District Large Group Speech contest
at Clarke Community School on January 25th.
The team with Lydia Hoffman, Aslynee Allee, Kylie Hubbard, Cadence Shiflett, and
Jaylynn Doolittle received a Division 1 rating, which is considered excellent, and they will
advance on to the state contest in Waukee on February 8th.
The team with Owen Whittington, EJ Allee, Jacob Taylor, and Weston Drake received a
Division 2 rating, which is considered very good. Congratulations to both teams for their hard
work and willingness to do impromptu acting with no script and only 2 minutes prep time!
